About the firm
The depth of a large practice. The attention of a boutique one.
Fidum Advocates was founded on a simple conviction: clients deserve both. Our lawyers have been trained and have practised in respected Ugandan law firms, in community-based legal aid work and in the NGO sector.
Who we serve
We meet you where you are
That mix of experience means we understand the courtroom, the boardroom and the village meeting alike. Whether you are a multinational facing a commercial dispute, a growing company that needs sound governance, an NGO navigating compliance, or an individual who needs a trusted advocate, we fight for the outcome that matters to you.
We litigate with conviction, advise with foresight, and handle every matter with integrity.
Organisations our Managing Partner has supported
- ActionAid Uganda
- Greenwatch
- Norwegian Refugee Council (Uganda)
Served as an external support lawyer to each of these organisations before founding Fidum Advocates.
Why Fidum
Why we are a dependable law firm
Experience you can rely on
Our lawyers have practised in established law firms, community legal aid programmes and the NGO sector, so we bring real, hands-on knowledge from many angles of the law, not just theory.
Full service under one roof
From litigation and criminal defence to corporate governance, immigration, banking, real estate and environmental law, you do not need to look elsewhere.
Trusted by leading organisations
Our Managing Partner has supported ActionAid Uganda, Greenwatch and the Norwegian Refugee Council (Uganda). Organisations like these choose counsel carefully.
Courtroom strength, boardroom sense
We are strong litigators who also think commercially. We advise on how to avoid disputes, and when they arise, we fight to win them.
Specialist depth
Our team includes a certified insolvency practitioner, a partner who has headed a litigation department, a criminal law specialist and a Managing Partner experienced in governance and company secretarial work.
A heart for access to justice
We believe the law should serve everyone. Our roots in rural legal education and pro bono services remain part of who we are.
Clear communication, personal attention
You will know where your matter stands, what your options are and what it will take. No jargon, no surprises.
Integrity above everything
Fidum means faithful. We keep confidences, respect deadlines, and tell clients the truth even when it is not what they hoped to hear.
How an engagement works
A written framework for every matter
Conflict check and first conversation
We confirm there is no conflict of interest, then listen to what you need and tell you plainly how we can help.
Written fee estimate
Before substantial work begins you receive a written estimate that explains the charging basis and any expected disbursements.
Engagement letter
The scope, timetable and terms for your matter are recorded in writing, so both sides know exactly what has been agreed.
Regular reporting
We aim to acknowledge messages within one working day, explain significant advice in plain terms and consult you before any material step.
Professional fees are determined in accordance with the Advocates Act and the Advocates (Remuneration and Taxation of Costs) Regulations. Disbursements such as court filing fees, registration fees and stamp duty are separate from professional fees and are agreed with you in advance where practicable. Fees quoted are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.
Our commitments
What you can expect from us
Confidentiality. We preserve the confidentiality of information obtained in the course of an engagement, protect privileged communications, and handle personal data in accordance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
Conflict checks. We run conflict checks before accepting substantive instructions and tell you promptly if a conflict is identified during a matter.
Independence. We give independent professional advice, assess risks candidly and tell you the truth even when it is not what you hoped to hear. We do not guarantee outcomes; no honest advocate can.
Access to justice. Our roots in rural legal education and pro bono services remain part of who we are.
